Teen Charged In Robbery Of 80-Year Old Woman In Homewood

Homewood police have arrested a 17-year-old in connection with the robbery of an 80-year-old woman last week.

HOMEWOOD, IL - Homewood police have arrested a 17-year-old in connection to the robbery of an 80-year-old woman on a street in the village last week. The juvenile was taken into custody on Monday and charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated battery, police said on Wednesday.

The arrest was made in connection with an incident which occurred on Thursday, March 15 at 8:30 a.m. in which the victim was allegedly pushed to the ground near the corner of Center and Olive and had her purse taken by the offender. The victim was hospitalized with injuries to her face, police said at the time. RELATED: 80-Year Old Woman Robbed On Homewood Street

The incident caused a brief lockdown at nearby James Hart School as Glenwood police and a Cook County Sheriff's K9 unit assisted in an initial search for the offender. A surveillance photo of the suspect obtained by police during the course of the investigation was shared with the public.
