JOLIET, IL — Two days after Joliet Mayor Bob O'Dekirk called for a state investigation of the new coronavirus outbreak at the Symphony of Joliet nursing home, a second employee at the private care facility has died, according to WGN-TV. Data from the state of Illinois Public Health Department showed 81 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus at the facility as of Sunday.

The state's data put the death toll at Symphony of Joliet at 21. It was not immediately clear why the state's death total is lower than what several Illinois news media outlets have been reporting in recent death totals.

Saturday's death of 57-year-old Sandra Green marked the 26th death linked to the Joliet nursing home on Larkin Avenue, according to the Chicago television station.
