1. 4 Underage Juveniles Captured After Handgun, Backpack Incident On Summer Rose Drive: Cops (patch.com) — Joliet police say four boys, ages 12 to 15, were taken into custody after a Labor Day weekend disturbance on Summer Rose Drive that allegedly turned into a beating and robbery involving a handgun. Officers, assisted by Will County deputies and Plainfield police, tracked the juveniles to nearby streets and recovered a backpack and an unloaded 9mm handgun believed tied to the incident.

2. BMW Crashes Into Fence, Hits House On Raynor Ave, Teenage Driver Captured After Everyone Flees: Police (patch.com) — Overnight on Labor Day weekend, Joliet police say a speeding BMW crashed through a fence and into a house on South Raynor Avenue before its occupants ran off. Officers later found an injured 18-year-old Burr Ridge man nearby, identified him as the suspected driver, and arrested him on aggravated DUI and multiple traffic charges. A city inspector determined the Joliet home did not suffer major structural damage and no other injuries were reported.

Mysterious Man Knocking On Doors, Windows Asking For Help Arrested By Joliet Police: Cops (patch.com) — Residents on Joliet's east side called police after a man persistently knocked on doors and windows on North Eastern Avenue, even trying a front door handle while asking for help. Officers say the man later gave multiple false names before being identified as a 19-year-old from Chicago and arrested on disorderly conduct and obstructing identification charges. He was processed in Joliet and released with a court date.

Joliet Central JROTC cadets place 2,977 flags in remembrance of Sept. 11 (shawlocal.com) — Joliet Central High School JROTC cadets created a powerful 9/11 memorial by placing 2,977 flags in front of the school, one for each life lost. District leaders say the tradition helps students, who were born after 2001, understand the courage and sacrifice shown by first responders and service members, while passing those stories on to a new generation in Joliet.

Ventura secures over $360,000 to address teacher vacancies in the 43rd District (thetimesweekly.com) — Joliet Public School District 86 is set to receive $198,400 to help reduce teacher vacancies, part of more than $360,000 Senator Rachel Ventura secured for her 43rd District. The grant, from a statewide Teacher Vacancy Pilot Program, can fund bonuses, tuition help, mentoring, and other supports, building on earlier efforts that have already lowered vacancy rates locally.
