GP Transco Building Headquarters In Joliet
The new structure going up near Route 6 means more high-paying jobs for Joliet.

JOLIET, IL — A Darien-based logistics company, GP Transco, has started building its new corporate headquarters in Joliet. The company held a small groundbreaking event last week at Route 6 and Houbolt Road. City of Joliet economic development specialist Derek Conley said it's his understanding GP Transco will bring about 100 new jobs to Joliet.
The 40,000-square-foot building is under construction on a hillside, across from where Target will be opening a new warehouse and distribution facility that encompasses 1.2 million square feet. Target, as Joliet Patch previously reported, will be adding about 200 new jobs to the site.
Target intends to open its new building in November. Target's building is already finished.

Conley told Joliet Patch on Tuesday morning at City Hall: "We're happy for the jobs, and we've had some success the last couple of years in bringing more corporate headquarters to Joliet."
Other headquarters to move to Joliet include Cadence Premier Logistics, which is near Route 53 and Illinois Marine Towing, which moved downtown into the Catholic Charities property owned by John Bays.
"We're happy to add GP Transco to the list," Conley told Joliet Patch.
A press release posted on the GP Transco website last month proclaims that "with the new Outstanding Trucking Professionals weekly driver performance bonus program, truck drivers now earn up to $87,000 per year at GP Transco."
