Handcuffed Joliet Teen Fights Cops in Hill Projects: Police

A Joliet teen fought the law in the projects on the Hill, police said.

Malik Bridges, 19, was charged with the aggravated battery of a police officer and resisting a police officer in connection with the Tuesday morning incident on Englewood Avenue.

Officers were sent to look into a possible burglary on Housing Authority property and saw Bridges—who matched a description of the prowler—walking across the project basketball courts, police said.

An officer went to take Bridges into custody and managed to get a handcuff on one of his wrists, police said, but the teen started swinging his arms and trying to break free.

A second officer arrived and they knocked Bridges to the ground, police said, but not before he hit one of them in face.

Bridges was taken to the Will County jail. His bond was set at $75,000.
