JOLIET, IL — One vacant house in the 400 block of North Hickory Street was destroyed by an overnight fire and the next door house also sustained significant structure. Joliet community activist Bob Hernandez told Patch he was in the area early Saturday morning and produced a Facebook Live video of the Joliet Fire Department crews battling the overnight fire.

The houses where the fire occurred are across the street from the St. John's Catholic Church.

"One house burned to the ground and the other is still standing as our outstanding fire department is fighting the blaze," Hernandez informed his followers.
