JOLIET, IL — In November 2017, Joliet Police arrested Western Avenue resident Johnny Knippenberg on charges of aggravated battery after police said Knippenberg shot a man in the 1300 block of John Street, once in the groin and once in the wrist, according to a criminal complaint. Knippenberg remained in the Will County Jail between Nov. 11, 2017, and June 8, 2018.

In the summer of 2018, the Joliet man pleaded guilty to his crime. His three-year sentence was suspended, and he was given credit for 204 days of time served, court records reflect.
