Joliet Amazon Worker Faces Felony Criminal Charges

JOLIET, IL — The Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow has filed two felony theft charges against Joliet Amazon Fulfillment Center worker Avantae Thomas. According to last week's filing, Thomas is accused of committing his crimes between Dec. 13 and New Year's Day.

The complaint indicates that Thomas knowingly obtained or exerted control over property of Amazon and the value of the property exceeded $10,000. The second indicates that a theft occurred on Dec. 27 and the crime involved the theft of electronics.

Will County Judge James Harvey signed off on last week's arrest warrant from Joliet police detective Stephen Boe. According to the warrant, Thomas lives on South Michigan Avenue in Riverdale. He's described as black, 5-foot-8, 170 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes. The warrant for Thomas' arrest lists his employer as Amazon Joliet.
