JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Fire Department extinguished an early morning blaze at the Hooters restaurant near the Louis Joliet Mall Friday. The restaurant on Hennepin Drive sustained heavy smoke and water damage and will need to be closed for a significant period of time, Joliet Deputy Fire Chief Greg Blaskey told Joliet Patch around 8 a.m. Friday.

Blaskey said the city fire department was notified of the structure fire at 4:17 a.m. by an automatic alarm. Joliet firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the roof and eaves. The fire was located inside the kitchen, and firefighters had the fire under control by around 4:30 a.m., Blaskey said.

The entire restaurant, however, was left with damage, he said.
