Joliet Man Shot In Face And Chest By Cops Goes From Hospital To Jail
The Joliet man pointed an assault rifle at a pair of cops, police said.

A Joliet man gunned down by the cops after he allegedly menaced them with an assault rifle was released from a Maywood hospital and taken to the the Will County jail.
Raymond Hansen, 41, was booked into custody late Sunday on charges of aggravated assault, felony domestic battery and misdemeanor domestic battery. He was in the hospital in the hospital for only five days.
Hansen’s wife called the cops on him Tuesday night, police said. She had reportedly fled her Rockwood Drive home with her son and called the law from around the corner.

After two officers arrived, Hansen emerged from the residence with a pair of assault rifles, said Joliet Police Chief Brian Benton. Hansen pointed one of the rifles at an officer and turned to point at the other officer, Benton said. The officers, both nine-year veterans, then opened fire.
After Hansen was handcuffed and being treated by paramedics, he was found to be in possession of at least two handguns, Benton said. Hansen was taken to Loyola University Medical Center.

Deputy Police Chief Al Roechner said Hansen served more than 20 years in the military.
Despite getting shot in the face and the chest, Benton said Hansen was in stable condition the morning after he was hospitalized.
