2 Teens Shot In Car On Palladium, 1 Dead
Will County Coroner Patrick O'Neil said both gunshot victims were 17 years old.
JOLIET, IL — Joliet police say that a 17-year-old boy was fatally shot and a 17-year-old girl seriously injured after being struck by gunfire shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday on Joliet's west side. Police say the girl is being treated at St. Joe's hospital. Will County Coroner Patrick O'Neil said that the male teenager was pronounced dead at 6:25 a.m. An autopsy is set for Monday.
The two victims were inside a car that got shot up in a drive-by shooting, police said. Two other people inside the car were not injured. The shooting occurred in the 700 block of Palladium Drive East, which is near Black Road.
"A dark colored SUV started following the victim's vehicle," police said. "At some point someone began shooting at the vehicle striking the victims."

One woman who witnessed the shooting commented on the Joliet police Facebook page: "I live on Lois (Place) and there were 10 to 12 gunshots at 3:07 a.m.," she said. "Tons of siren and lights on Palladium."
Police ask anyone that has surveillance video or witnessed any "suspicious activity" between 2 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. Sunday to call Detective Ray Jansma at 815-724-3028 or the investigation unit at 815-724-3020.

"The area of focus is from Infantry to Woodlawn between Black Road and Jefferson Street," police noted.
