Joliet Woman, 41, Hospitalized After Gas Station Attack: Police
At 10:04 p.m., Joliet police were called to Silver Cross Hospital for a 41-year-old woman in the emergency room who was attacked.

JOLIET, IL — Just one month after his arrest on aggravated battery charges involving a deadly weapon, 55-year-old Robert Lee Hicks is back in the Will County Jail. A recent car attack at the BP gas station left his 41-year-old victim in Silver Cross Hospital, according to Joliet police.
Hicks, who comes from the 400 block of Western Avenue, is now incarcerated facing new charges of aggravated battery.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the incident happened four days ago at 10:04 p.m.

According to English:
- Officers responded to Silver Cross Hospital for a 41-year-old woman in the emergency room who was the victim of an attack that occurred on July 13. Officers learned that on the day of the incident, the victim was a passenger in Hicks' vehicle while at the BP gas station located at 6 McDonough Street.
- Hicks accused the victim of stealing money at which time he began striking her in the face with a closed fist multiple times. The victim tried to escape, but Hicks placed her into a headlock. The victim escaped the car, and Hicks fled the area in the vehicle.
- The victim suffered numerous injuries to her face from the attack and was being treated at the hospital. On Sunday, Joliet police found Hicks at his residence in the 400 block of Western Avenue and placed him into custody without incident.
