MyGrain Brewing Prison Break: 3 Stateville Stout Variants

JOLIET, IL - Downtown Joliet's MyGrain Brewery is continuing to roll out more craft beer selections and its latest invention capitalizes on its popular Stateville Stout beer. On Thursday evening, MyGrain tapped a variant of Stateville Stout with vanilla beans.

On Friday afternoon, MyGrain tapped another variant, one with cocoa nibs. On Saturday, the crew at MyGrain Brewing plans to tap a variant of Stateville Stout featuring ten drops of coffee beans.

If you want to get it, you better get here soon. The three-day variant of Stateville Stout will only be available this weekend. Because of the limited quantity, the three different selections are not available in crowlers.

In other words, you need to visit MyGrain Brewing in person.

Whichever variants becomes the most popular hit with this weekend's customers, MyGrain Brewing's Vince Turrise told Patch, "it will influence our next barrel-aged release, which we are hoping to do with our Stateville Stout."

If you haven't been downtown lately, MyGrain Brewing has added about a half dozen new craft beers. The Wheel in the Sky Guava, which was the microbrewery's most popular beer selection when it opened back in 2017, is one.

MyGrain has been partnering up with a number of other local microbreweries, adding The Joliet Juice with the Elder Brewing Company, which is at 218 E. Cass St.

Another collaboration is called From PALE: They Came, an IPA with 7.2 percent alcohol, with P.A.LE. (Plainfield Ale & Lager Enthusiasts), Hopvine Brewing Company, Oswego Brewing Company, Pollyanna Brewing Company, Transient Artisan Ales, Hailstorm Brewing Company, Scallywag Brewing, New Belgium Brewing, Midnight Pig Beer, Illuminated Brew Works, Goose Island and Werk Force Brewing.

MyGrain Brewing is open Fridays from 11:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. MyGrain is closed Monday and Tuesday. It's open Wednesday and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
