A Joliet woman woke up to a stranger in her home and was repeatedly raped by him before he left to use her Link card at a nearby gas station, police said.

Eric Gill, 21, was captured at the McDonough Street gas station. He was charged with home invasion, aggravated criminal sexual assault and the possession of a controlled substance.

Gill slithered through the kitchen window of a Des Plaines Street home about 2 a.m. Sunday and attacked a woman who was sleeping on a living room couch, police said.

Gill sexually assaulted the 35-year-old woman several times, police said, holding his hand over her mouth and threatening to kill her if she didn’t keep quiet.

Gill finally stopped about four hours later and told the woman he was heading to the gas station to get some food, police said. He reportedly took along her link card to buy it.
