Texas Police Have Until January to Turn Over Sandra Bland Material

Bland was found dead in her jail cell last July. The family suspects foul play was involved.

The Sandra Bland case is moving forward slowly but surely. A Texas federal judge has ordered that all materials related to Bland’s traffic stop and fatal jailing be turned over in early January.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, U.S. District Judge David Hittner’s order is in response to a subpoena from attorneys who filed a wrongful death suit.

Hittner heard arguments earlier this week. His order signed Wednesday gives more time, saying the parties involved in the lawsuit have agreed the police must submit materials by Jan. 4.

Waller County Attorneys have alleged that Bland killed herself after she became despondent when family members were unable to make her bail.
