Three Young Children With Slain Woman When Gunmen Fired on Car: Cops
The three children and another woman emerged from the gun attack unscathed.

Three young children were riding in the back of a car when a gang of gunman opened fire on it, killing a woman in the front seat, police said. Jourdyn Williamson, 20, was pronounced dead at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center shortly after the Tuesday evening gun attack.
Williamson was in the front passenger seat of a car when “multiple” gunmen in a group of about eight people fired on the vehicle car as it rode down Mississippi Avenue.
None of the children, who were all under the age of three, were struck by bullets. The driver was also uninjured.

Williamson was shot in the head. The driver headed for a convenience store on Richards Street and called the cops from there, police said.
Police Chief Brian Benton asked anyone with information to call detectives at 815-724-3020 or Crimestoppers at 800-323-6734.

Investigators do not believe Williamson or the driver were the target of the shooting, Benton said.
“We believe it occurred because the vehicle, not because of the occupants,” the chief said.
