LA GRANGE, IL – The Lyons Township High School board is prepared Monday to reject the two bids for its 70-acre property in Willow Springs.

The bids were from Bridge Industrial, an international company, for $55 million and San Francisco-based Prologis for $46.5 million. The board's minimum price is $55 million.

Both companies are industrial developers that focus on such things as warehouses.

On its agenda for Monday, the school board plans to vote on rejecting the bids. The agenda says the bids do not conform to the board's terms and conditions of sale, without giving specifics.

School officials did not return an emailed message for comment Friday afternoon.

The school board said it wanted to use the sale proceeds for improvement projects on its two campuses.

But the village of Willow Springs says the area in question excludes industrial zoning and that the school board has kept it out of the loop. Neighbors have also voiced opposition.

In addition, Burr Ridge officials say some village residents who live near the property may be impacted.

The school bought the land in two phases in the 1950s and 1960s. That was in a time of increasing enrollment. However, in the last four decades, enrollment has stabilized.

The wooded land in question is southwest of 79th Street and Willow Springs Road.
