Snowstorm Forces Late Starts at 2 Lake Forest Schools

Four-to-seven inches are expected to hit Lake County. Two local schools push back start times.

LAKE FOREST, IL - As Chicago’s north suburbs gear up for what could be one of the final snowstorms of the 2015-2016 winter, two private high schools in Lake Forest have already announced an altered schedule.

Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart will open at 10 a.m. and Lake Forest Academy will open at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday due to a snowstorm that’s expected to hit Chicago’s north suburbs, according to the Emergency Closing Center.

The North Shore Senior Center, located in Northfield, will also open late, at 10 a.m.

Between four to seven inches of snow is expected in the northern suburbs with a winter storm warning in effect for Lake and McHenry counties through 9 a.m. A winter weather advisory has been issued for Kane, DuPage and Cook counties where between one and five inches of snow is expected. Strong wind gusts could make driving conditions treacherous.
