Giants Fan Leaves $5K Tip for Wrigley Field Bartender

The generous gratuity came from an anonymous customer who ordered rounds of shots for the entire bar during Game 2 on Saturday.

CHICAGO, IL — His team might have lost, but an anonymous San Francisco Giants fan is a winner in the eyes of one Wrigley Field bartender.

Stephanie Rarick, who manages the DraftKings patio bar attached to the Cubs ballpark, received a $5,000 tip from a Giants fan during Game 2 of the National League Division Series on Saturday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The gratuity was for a $2,280 bill, which included rounds of Fireball and Bushmill whiskey shots for the entire bar, the report stated. Even on a tab that large, a generous 20-percent tip would only be $456.

But Rarick — a 23-year-old Purdue University Northwest student from Hammond, Indiana — didn't pocket all that cash, the Sun-Times reports. She and another bartender who helped serve drinks to the unknown fan and his wife decided to divvy up the tip with the rest of that night's staff, the report stated. That meant 26 bartenders and servers — including Rarick and her bartending partner — took home an extra $192.

This wasn't the only time this particular customer left big tips during the NLDS games at Wrigley, the report stated. During Friday's Game 1, he left $200 on a $40 bill and $100 for a $10 bill, the report added.

As for the fan's identity, there are a couple clues, the Sun-Times reports:

The anonymous fan also left another note on the receipt that suggests he might've been planning on returning: "Go Giants Game 5 Boom!"
