Ela Township Youth Program Hiring After School Assistant

Ela Township has a great part-time job opportunity for an after school assistant.

Ela Township is hiring an After School Program Assistant to help students with homework, supervise activities for children enrolled in Thrive After Three and assist in providing a safe, secure and nurturing environment for young program participants.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Interaction and supervision of school age children (grades K-5) through games, crafts, homework help and other group activities.
  • Apply basic youth development principles in working with youth through communication, relationship development and respect for diversity, involvement and empowerment of youth.
  • Be aware of and implement safety guidelines.
  • Assist Youth Director with daily clean-up, setting up supplies, leaving program area neat and clean.
  • Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
  • Work positively with children, volunteers and Youth Director.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the highest standards of health and safety keeping the health and welfare of every child at all times.

  • Must have prior experience working with children.
  • Must be creative, patient, understanding, be flexible and adapt to changing situations. Encourage safety and healthy choices while children are at the program.
  • Ability to work with a diverse age group and skill level of staff and youth.
  • Must possess a positive attitude and act as a role model for children.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certified preferred.
  • Ability to work weekdays, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Employment is subject to a background check.

Compensation will be based on experience, ranging from $10 to $15 per hour.
