📰 News we're reading

• Unusually high gas prices this late in the year: GasBuddy (newsnationnow.com) — A Lincolnshire gas station is part of the backdrop as GasBuddy reports that U.S. gas prices are unusually high for this time of year, averaging just over $4 a gallon. The spike is tied to tensions with Iran and disruption around the Strait of Hormuz, meaning Lincolnshire drivers could be paying more at the pump for a while.

• Glenview Joins 6 Communities To Fund Gas Leaf Blower Restriction Study (journal-topics.com) — Lincolnshire previously joined Deerfield, Lake Forest, and other North Shore communities in a regional working group exploring restrictions on gas-powered leaf blowers, and that effort is now advancing with a new feasibility study led by Wilmette and Glenview. While Glenview just approved funding, the broader coalition's work could shape future noise and air-quality rules that may eventually influence Lincolnshire's own landscaping policies.

• Who's on first at Metra? Directors coming and going as transit reforms gel (dailyherald.com) — A Lincolnshire resident, director Gary Gordon, is among the remaining Metra board members as major transit reforms take effect and six new directors join in September. The shake-up follows creation of the Northern Illinois Transit Authority, which will wield more power over Metra, Pace, and CTA service funded by higher gas and sales taxes. Lincolnshire commuters may feel the impact in coming years.
