Pedestrian Hit By Metra Train Near Lisle Dies: Reports
Preliminary information from Lisle police says male of unknown age may have committed suicide.

Update: The commuter who was struck by a train east of the Lisle Metra Station has died, according to news reports.
NBC Chicago reported that the person struck by the train, a male of unknown age, later died, quoting a statement from Lisle police.
Preliminary information provided by Lisle police indicated the incident was not an accident, “but instead an unfortunate incident of self-harm.”

The accident caused extensive delays during the Monday’s afternoon rush.
Original report: Metra’s BNSF Railway line trains stopped Monday afternoon, just after 4 p.m., after a train fatally struck a pedestrian in Lisle. Inbound train No. 1272 hit a person east of the Lisle station, according to Metra, forcing trains in both directions to stop.

The trains were halted for about an hour. Evening trains could be delayed.
“Tracks 1 and 2 are open for train operation,” Metra said. “Trains may incur delays upwards of 50 minutes en route near Lisle. Please listen to station platform announcements for train locations and delay times.”
Stations affected include Lisle, Naperville, Route 59, Aurora, Downers Grove Main Street, West Hinsdale, Hinsdale, La Grange, Western Springs and others on the line.
