How Do Animals Survive the Winter?

The Village of Montgomery will hold a program on how animals survive during the winter at 10 a.m. Feb. 9.

Naturalist Margaret Gazdacka, director of the Red Oak Nature Center in North Aurora, will lead the presentation.

Have you ever wondered why Canada Geese stay here all year long, or where the blackbirds and robins go in the winter? Do you know why we have been seeing more deer around and where the chipmunks are now? Find out answers to these questions and others as Margaret explores the many ways animals survive the cold Chicago winter months.

Margaret has been a naturalist for over 15 years and loves the winter because it holds a world of wonder. She says that every day at Red Oak you never know what you will find when you explore in the winter months.

This free event is being offered by the Village of Montgomery. There is no charge and the building is handicapped accessible. The monthly Senior Lunch and activity will begin at 11:00 a.m. after the presentation. There is a $4 cost for the lunch and pre-registration by February 2nd is required.
