A Joliet woman is claiming that a ComEd employee pepper sprayed her dog unprovoked Friday morning.
Sarah Glover, of the 500 block of Bellarmine Drive in Joliet, said she let her pit bull Molly outside at around 9:30 a.m. and then heard crying shortly after.

“The ComEd employee was standing by my fence with his pepper spray pointing at her and said ‘Put your f-----g dog in the house or I’m going to spray her again,’” Glover said.
Glover said the dog’s eyes were swollen shut and she was crying.

“This dog is absolutely no threat to anybody,” she said.
According to Glover, this is not the first time an animal has been abused by the ComEd employee. She said the same man had come through the area before and tried to hit another dog with a hammer.
“ComEd has done nothing about this employee,” Glover said “We’ve reported him numerous times.”
Glover said the man was not there to do any work on her house and the dog was confined to the yard by a fence.
Glover said she’s contacted ComEd about the incident, but the company refused to give her the name of the man or any other information.
A police report has been filed with the Joliet Police Department, according to Glover. A copy of that report was not immediately available. However, police were able confirm the report had been filed.
If the ComEd employee is found to have committed this act, it’s possible he could be charged with disorderly conduct, according to police.
A ComEd spokesperson said the company is aware of the situation and looking into it. The spokesperson also said that because their employees are often on foot walking through neighborhoods, they do have pepper spray in the event they feel their safety is being threatened.
