Pastor's Wife Tried to Poison and Stab Daughters So They Could 'Meet Jesus Christ': Police

The girls ranged in age from 12 to 19, police said. The younger girls were also reportedly stabbed in the chest.

A Montgomery mother charged with six counts of attempted first-degree murder attempted to poison her three daughters, police said, and two of the girls were also stabbed in the chest because she wanted them to “meet Jesus.”

Pamela Christensen, 47, recently separated from her pastor husband, was arrested Wednesday, the same day she was released from Presence Mercy Medical Center, according to police. On Thursday night, Montgomery Police Chief Daniel Meyers would not say why Christensen was hospitalized.

On the morning of Sept. 25, police responded to two 911 hang-up calls, both made by one of Christensen’s daughters, Meyers told the Beacon News.

Meyers, who said the girls are 12, 16 and 19, told the newspaper that a container with an unknown liquid was found on the counter of the home. None of the children ingested the liquid, he said.

When the police arrived, Christensen answered the door clad in a white shirt covered in blood and the mom told police she wanted her children to “meet Jesus Christ,” according to court records reviewed by the Chicago Sun-Times. The kids were dressed in white. The mom had mixed a poison with dishwashing liquid and tried to get her children to drink it, but the children wouldn’t drink, according to the court papers.

In August, Christensen obtained an order of protection against her husband, and divorce papers filed by the wife suggest the husband had become abusive. Christensen moved out of their Montgomery family home and was living with her father in Naperville.

The two younger girls also suffered minor stab wounds to the chest, according to the Beacon, and were treated at Rush-Copley Medical Center and released.

According to the Beacon News, the children are in the custody of Christensen’s father. Neighbors told the newspaper that Pamela Christensen separated from her husband, pastor of a church in Sugar Grove, two months ago.

Christensen appeared in Kendall County court on Thursday. Her bail was set at $1 million. She is due back in court Oct. 16. In addition to the attempted murder charges, she is charged with three counts of aggravated battery and three counts of unlawful restraint.
