Sex Offender Arrested After Failing to Register New Address

Williams' original charge came 10 years ago when he sexually abused a 10-year-old girl. He is currently free on bond.

A 51-year-old Aurora sex offender was arrested after he failed to notify police of an address change, according to a release from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.

Joseph Williams, of the 1000 block of Route 30, was charged with one count of unlawful failure to register as a sex offender, a class 2 felony.

On Oct. 5, deputies had done an address verification check on Williams. They found that Williams had failed to notify the sheriff’s office of an address change within three days as is required by Illinois law.

Williams was taken into custody Nov. 18 and his bail was set at $10,000 with ten percent to apply. Williams bonded out the same day and his next court appearance is Dec. 2.

According to the Illinois Sex Offender page, Williams’ sex offender status came from an aggravated criminal sexual abuse charge 10 years ago. Williams was 41 at the time of the offense and the victim was 10.
