Sex Offender Failed to Register New Address: Police
Thomas Bernardy, 59, was originally arrested for aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a 9 year old. He was 41 at the time.

AURORA, IL — A 59-year-old convicted sex offender was arrested after he allegedly failed to register a change of address.
Thomas Bernardy, previously of the 1000 block of Route 30 in Aurora, was charged with one count of failure to register as a sex offender.
During a recent sex offender address verification check, Kendall County Sheriff’s Detectives became aware that Bernardy was in violation of the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act.

The Act mandates that sex offenders must notify law enforcement of an address change within three days. Following an investigation, it is alleged that Bernardy moved and did not notify Police.
Bernardy was taken into custody by the North Aurora Police Dec. 19. His bail was set at $15,000 with 10 percent to apply.

He was transferred to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office where he remains in custody pending his next court appearance.
