Curfew Imposed In Naperville Monday, State Of Emergency Declared
The curfew is in effect from 9 p.m. Monday until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

NAPERVILLE, IL — The city of Naperville imposed a 9 p.m. curfew Monday and declared a state of emergency in the city "due to the widespread incidents of violence, vandalism, and stealing occurring throughout the greater Chicagoland area," according to a press release. Residents are urged to stay home unless they must travel for essential work during curfew hours.
Naperville officials say the order was issued out of "an abundance of caution" in the wake of protests and unrest following the death of George Floyd.
A protest was held in downtown Naperville Monday afternoon, with protesters marching through the streets and causing traffic to shut down. Police presence was increased and many businesses boarded up their windows as a precautionary measure against potential looters.

Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico said in a Facebook post that he attended the afternoon's "peaceful protest." He added, "The event was a positive example of how our residents can make their voices heard and exercise their right to assemble to bring about change. I share their enthusiasm for social justice and want to take their energy and channel it into positive solutions and policies for lasting change."
