Bad Kid Steals Car, Flashes Gun, Runs Over Man and Flees Cops: Police

The teen was also high and drunk, and he was carrying pot, police said.

A drunken, high teenager stole a car, drove recklessly, flashed a gun, ran a man over and then fled from the cops, police said.

The New Lenox police were sent over to Root Street about 8 p.m. Friday to look into a report of a dangerous driver. While on their way, the officers reportedly learned the driver brandished a handgun and ran down a 54-year-old pedestrian.

An officer located the fugitive vehicle parked at a local gas station but the 16-year-old driver tried to make a break for it, police said.

The officer reportedly caught the teen and learned the car had been stolen two days prior. The officer also deduced that the youth was drunk and high, police said, and was carrying marijuana. A pellet gun was reportedly found in the vehicle.

The teen was taken to River Valley Juvenile Detention Center.

The injured man was transported to Silver Cross Hospital. He was treated and released from care.
