Car Burglars Love LA Fitness In New Lenox

Criminals continue to have success at the LA Fitness in New Lenox, police reports show.

NEW LENOX, IL - Back in November and in December, the New Lenox Patch drew attention to a round of car break-ins at the LA Fitness along East Lincoln Highway. In those crimes, unsuspecting victims had a purse or other valuables taken by a thief who was trolling the business parking lot. Now, a new round of car break-ins recently took place at the popular fitness club in New Lenox, police reports show.

On Jan. 11, police officers were summoned to the LA Fitness just before 10 p.m. on Jan. 11. "The officer was dispatched to LA Fitness in reference to a burglary to motor vehicle report. The complainant advised that someone forced entry to their vehicle and stole their purse and other property," police reports show. Then, about 45 minutes later, New Lenox officers fielded another call about a car burglary, also at the LA Fitness, 2431 E. Lincoln Highway.

Around 10:45 p.m., "the officer was dispatched to LA Fitness in reference to a burglary to motor vehicle report. The complainant advised that someone forced entry to their vehicle and stole their purse."

It remains undetermined whether the burglars only prey upon the LA Fitness parking lot in New Lenox or whether other local businesses being targeted. Less than six hours before the LA Fitness car break-ins were reported to police that night, New Lenox police were summoned to the Physicians Immediate Care, 621 E. Lincoln Highway, New Lenox, shortly before 4:30 p.m., on Jan. 11. "The complainant advised that someone forced entry to their vehicle and stole property," police reports state.
