Vikings Sports Roundup: Volleyball Gets Two Early-Season Victories
Football took another tough loss while boys soccer finished off its latest tournament with a victory.

FOOTBALL: Last season Niles North opened its season with a on the road. This year’s season-opening defeat might have been more painful. The Vikings squandered an opportunity to get an early-season victory, losing to Oak Lawn on the road, 21-17.
Niles North’s defense surrendered only three points, but it was special teams and offensive miscues that cost the Vikings a victory. First-year QB Billy Voitik threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown and Oak Lawn returned the opening kickoff of the second half for a touchdown. In addition, Niles North allowed two safeties.
There were a couple of bright spots for the Vikings as Oshayne Brown rushed for more than 100 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown run, and Mychael Henley caught four passes for 40 yards. He’ll be a favorite target for Voitik, who was 8-for-22 passing.
