Caretaker Accused Of Exploiting Elderly: Northbrook Police Blotter

Police said the woman turned herself in on an active warrant involving the financial exploitation of two people they were caretakers for.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

THEFT

Patrick T. Markle, of Chicago, is accused of five counts of theft, and was arrested at 10:49 a.m. Feb. 17, in the 900 block of Skokie Boulevard. During a joint investigation between the Prospect Heights and Northbrook police departments, it was discovered that Markle stole several televisions and fans from his workplace while employed there. A court date of March 8 was assigned.

NO DRIVER'S LICENSE

Antoni J. Silva-Torrealba, of Chicago, is accused of speeding (73 mph in a 40 mph zone), no valid driver's license, display of an expired temporary registration, improper use of registration, and was arrested at 12:04 a.m. Feb. 21, at Willow and Waukegan roads. A court date of April 4 was assigned.

SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Matthew N. Boudreaux, of Chicago, is accused of having a suspended registration, suspended driver's license, and was arrested at 1:05 p.m. Feb. 21, at Old Willow and Willow roads. A court date of April 3 was assigned.

FINANCIAL EXPLOITATION OF ELDERLY

Flyn E. Ruperto, of Sycamore, is accused of financial exploitation of the elderly, and was arrested at noon, Feb. 22, in the 600 block of Midfield Lane. The complainant said the caretaker of two Northbrook residents, later identified as Ruperto, had unlawfully taken money from the elderly victims while she was supposed to be assisting them with day-to-day activities. She turned herself into Northbrook police for the active warrant. A court date of March 1 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

BURGLARY TO VEHICLES

Police saw a suspicious dark-colored vehicle at 3:56 a.m. Feb. 21, that later fled from the police in the 1900 block of Kiest Avenue. While checking the area for any criminal activity, the officers found an unlocked 2021 Ford that had been burglarized. The officers also found an unlocked 2008 Toyota that was burglarized. The complainant said $100 was missing from the Ford.

RETAIL THEFT

The staff at a grocery store in the 1100 block of Church Street reported at 5:22 p.m. Feb. 21, a man stole several bottles of alcohol and food. During the criminal act, the subject dropped his backpack. The police department is working with the store to determine the identity of the subject through the personal items in the backpack.
