Customer Fraudulently Attempts To Buy Drug: Northbrook Police Blotter
The customer called in a "prescription" for oxycodone from a retired doctor, according to police.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Amy B. Burke, of Skokie, is accused of improper lane usage, driving under the influence, driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 1:14 a.m. Sept. 10, at Willow Road and Patriot Drive. A court date of Oct. 7 was assigned.

SUSPENDED REGISTRATION
- A Northbrook resident was cited for operating a motor vehicle with suspended license plates for insurance, a suspended registration at 10:11 p.m. Sept. 11, at Dundee and Pfingsten roads. A court date of Oct. 11 was assigned.
- A Chicago resident was cited for a stop sign violation, suspended registration, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle at 7:05 p.m. Sept. 14, in the 700 block of Pfingsten Road. A court date of Oct. 11 was assigned.

INCIDENTS
DEATH INVESTIGATION
- A family member of a resident at a nursing home in the 3100 block of Pheasant Creek called police at 4:43 p.m. Sept. 8, to report they had passed away at the home. The cause was medical issues. The victim was released to the funeral home.
- The maintenance staff of an apartment complex in the 2000 block of Valencia Drive reported at 10:16 a.m. Sept. 14, they had not seen a tenant for several days. The tenant was found deceased of natural causes inside the apartment.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
A citizen reported on Sept. 8 that someone stole the catalytic converter from his 2012 Toyota Prius while it was parked in the parking lot overnight in the 900 block of Skokie Boulevard.
RETAIL THEFT
- A staff member at a business in the 900 block of Willow Road reported at 7:24 p.m. Sept. 9, that a person walked over to the shelf of skin care products, placed them in his backpack and left the store without paying. The suspect is described as Black, between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-1, thin build, between 20-30 years old, wearing a white baseball hat, white short-sleeved shirt and whitewashed jeans. They left in a black four-door sedan (possibly a 2008-2013 Chevrolet Malibu) with tinted windows and a sunroof.
- The manager of a store in the 15000 block of Lake Cook Road reported at 6:40 p.m. Sept. 12, two men entered the store and stole two cell phones. One was wearing a tan Louis Vuitton hat, a black Addidas tracksuit with white stripes down the arms and legs, and black shoes. The other was wearing a black hat, gray Nike tracksuit and white shoes.
FORGERY
A staff member of a pharmacy in the 900 block of Willow Road called police at 2:16 p.m. Sept. 10, because a fake prescription for Oxycodone had been electronically sent in. The staff noticed it was fake because the doctor requesting the prescription had been retired for a period of time. The doctor was contacted and he confirmed he did not request the prescription.
COUNTERFEIT MONEY
The staff at a store in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 2:33 p.m. Sept. 10, a woman attempted to purchase a gift card using a fake $100 bill. When the woman was denied the sale, she left the store without retrieving the fake bill.
THEFT
A Techny Road resident called police at 3:42 p.m. Sept. 12, to report she received a phone call from someone claiming to be an IT representative of her multi dwelling establishment. He advised her that her credit card was hacked and she should purchase Amazon gift cards to remedy the situation. After purchasing the gift cards, she later realized she was scammed.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
A resident in the 1000 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 12, they heard someone outside their apartment door. The unknown subject attempted to open the locked door. When he was unsuccessful, he walked away. The complainant described the subject as wearing a black hat, gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and white shoes. The incident was recorded on surveillance footage.
BURGLARY
Police responded to a residence in the 800 block of Midway Road at 3:25 p.m. Sept. 13, for a burglar alarm. Once they arrived, the officers met with the homeowner who just arrived home and discovered the residence was burglarized. Jewelry was stolen from the residence.
AUTOMOBILE CRASH
The staff at a commercial building in the 2800 block of Dundee Road called police at 3:51 p.m. Sept. 14, because a vehicle lost control and smashed through their front window. The driver and patrons were not injured.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A resident in the 500 block of Alice Drive reported at 9:26 p.m. Sept. 14, that his home was burglarized after he and his family returned from a walk. The offender entered through a rear window and stole several pieces of jewelry.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
Several staff members of a business in the 1800 block of Holste Road called police at 12:38 p.m. Sept. 15, to report a subject attempted to crawl under a bay door to enter their facilities. When the staff members asked what he was doing, the subject ran back to his car and fled. Officers found the vehicle driving away from the scene and attempted to stop it. When they activated their emergency lights, the subject fled by jumping curbs and driving over lawns. The officers stopped their attempts to pull him over. The subject was driving a black Dodge Charger.
