Trio Robs Store Of Handbags, Purses: Northbrook Police Blotter
The three asked store employees to open up a secured case so they could look at them before they ran out of the store with the stolen items.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
SPEEDING
Art Shipulan, of Northbrook, is accused of speeding more than 35 mph over the speed limit, improper transportation of cannabis, and was arrested at 10:58 p.m. Sept. 1, at Dundee and Pfingsten roads. Police clocked Shipulan driving 80 mph in a 40 mph zone. A court date of Oct. 11 was assigned.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Edmundo Vega, of Libertyville, is accused of improper lane usage, driving under the influence, driving with a blood alcohol concentration level over .08, and was arrested at 1:55 a.m. Sept. 2, at Hawthorne and Appletree lanes. A court date of Oct. 11 was assigned.

A resident of the 1500 block of Lori-Lyn Lane reported at 10:47 p.m. Sept. 3, she received a phone call from what she believed to be Amazon. The unknown caller asked the complainant to buy two gift cards and make several crypto account transfers to pay for alleged fees. She was also asked to provide her personal information, social security number, and a photo of her driver’s license, which she did. She later learned it was a scam.
RETAIL THEFT
The staff at a retail store in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard called police at 1:21 p.m. Sept. 4, to report two men and one woman entered the store and requested to see items inside the locked glass case. After the glass case was unlocked by the subjects without permission, they opened the case and stole several handbags and purses. The subjects ran out of the store and drove away in a gray Ford Escape.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
Police responded to the 4000 block of Sunset Lane at 9:12 a.m. Sept. 7, regarding flyers that were left on citizens’ driveways. The flyers contained anti-Semitic material. All flyers were collected. Read more: Village Board Condemns Anti-Semitic Incidents In Northbrook
THEFT
A citizen told police on Sept. 7 that they had left their bicycle on the school grounds on Sept. 2 in the 1400 block of Maple Avenue. The complainant described the bicycle as a 2016 gray/blue Novara Forza.
