Drunken Driver Strikes Cop's Squad Car: Northbrook Police Blotter
The Northbrook resident was charged with driving under the influence, making an improper turn, improper lane usage, according to police.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
AUTOMOBILE CRASH
Police and firefighters responded to Waukegan Road and Maple Avenue at 3:20 p.m. Jan. 8, for an injury automobile crash where two drivers had been seen driving recklessly through traffic. One of the cars crashed into another motorist and struck a pole on the side of the roadway. After a thorough investigation, two people were arrested and charged with the following:

- Bruce Arrellano, of Northfield, was charged with reckless driving, speeding 35 mph over the speed limit, improper lane usage, no seat belt, improper passing on the left, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident
- Lorenzo E. Jimenez Behena, of Prospect Heights, was charged with reckless driving, speeding 35 mph over the speed limit, improper passing on the left, no valid driver's license, changing lanes without signal
A court date of March 29 was assigned.
NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE

- Samantha A. Sullivan, of Glen Ellyn, is accused of having an expired registration, an expired driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, had a warrant out of Will County for retail theft, and was arrested at 6:08 p.m. Feb. 25, at Landwehr Road and Prestwick Lane. A court date of March 21 was assigned for the Northbrook charges. Sullivan bonded out on the arrest warrant.
- Maria P. Florez-Sarmiento, of Wheeling, is accused of failure to display front license plate, illegal rear license plate cover, no valid driver's license, and was arrested at 10:27 p.m. Feb. 28, at Willow and Greenwood roads. A court date of March 29 was assigned.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
- Jerome P. Glunz, of Northbrook, is accused of driving under the influence, making an improper turn, improper lane usage, and was arrested at 7:45 p.m. Feb. 25, at Sunset Ridge and Voltz Road. A police officer had been stopped at a stop sign, waiting to pull out into traffic, when Glunz reportedly made a wide turn and struck the officer's squad car. The officer was not injured. A court date of March 29 was assigned.
- Artsiom Charapovich, of Wheeling, is accused of speeding (104 mph in a 40 mph zone), having a defective headlight, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving under the influence, and was arrested at 12:57 a.m. Feb. 26, at Dundee and Sanders roads. Charapovich reportedly had a bottle of alcohol on the floor of the car. A court date of March 18 was assigned.
BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE
Jovany Uribe, of Chicago, is accused of felony burglary to vehicle, three counts of criminal damage to a vehicle, two counts of criminal trespass to a vehicle, criminal damage to property, and was arrested stemming from incidents during the early morning hours of Oct. 15, 2023. He also had an arrest warrant out of Grundy County. A court date of Feb. 28 was assigned for the Northbrook charges.

INCIDENTS
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
Police responded to a burglar alarm at 5:07 pm. Feb. 23, at a commercial building in the 1300 block of Techny Road. When they arrived, they found a smashed window on the side of the building. No one was found inside and nothing else was disturbed.
FLEEING AND ELUDING
- Police responded to the area of the 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard at 1:11 a.m. Feb. 27, after a stolen vehicle had been spotted. Once the officers found the vehicle, they attempted to stop it. The driver of the vehicle fled from the officers at a high rate of speed out of Northbrook.
- Police observed a black Chevrolet Impala at 3:27 a.m. Feb. 29, with a missing front plate and illegally tinted windows at Willow and Waukegan roads. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle accelerated to a high rate of speed and fled from the officer.
ELECTRONIC THEFT
- A Skokie Boulevard resident reported at 12:39 p.m. Feb. 27, someone had gained access to her airline miles account. The subject stole 145,500 miles/points. The complainant did not know how the subject gained access to the account.
- A Koepke Road resident called police at 3:16 p.m. Feb. 27, to report someone gained access to her bank account. The subject stole $5,000 and had the money wired to two different locations.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
Police responded to the area of the 100 block of Constance Lane at 6:38 p.m. Feb. 27, for a report a subject had been seen walking around a house looking inside. After looking around and not finding the subject, they spoke to a neighbor, who said his house was broken into. The subject entered the house through an unlocked side garage door and stole various jewelry.
THEFT
A Joshua Lane resident reported at 12:54 p.m. Feb. 29, they had ordered clothing through an online distribution website. The company said they delivered the clothing via the app. The complainant checked, but it had appeared that someone had stolen the clothing prior to her checking the front porch.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Williamsburg Drive resident reported at 4:24 p.m. Feb. 29, he and his wife have a joint bank account together. While checking the account, they noticed someone had accessed the account and setup online banking in the wife’s name without her permission. The complainant stated they had closed the account before any illegal transactions were made.
