NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

PACKAGE THEFTS

  • A resident of the 2500 block of Maple Avenue reported that someone stole two packages that had been delivered to their front porch between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 20.
  • Someone stole a package left on the front porch of a home in the 3700 block of Bordeaux Drive prior to 7 p.m. Nov. 21, replacing it with an empty box.
  • A resident in the 800 block of Fair Lane reported around 9:30 p.m. Nov. 21 that someone had stolen a package from their porch and replaced it with an empty box.
  • Someone stole a package from the front porch of a resident in the 2200 block of Walters Road prior to 10:30 a.m. Nov. 22.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

  • Police noticed fresh graffiti on the northwest part of of the Northbrook Water Tower and on a snow plow in the 1200 block of First Street around 8 p.m. on Nov. 24.
  • A resident in the 1200 block of Cedar Lane reported around 8 a.m. Nov. 27 that someone had spray painted the water tower, a wooden border fence by railroad tracks and a yellow snow plow.
  • Around 8:15 p.m. on Nov. 27, police discovered graffiti painted on a concrete construction barrier in the area of Illinois Road and Lorenz Drive.

SUSPICIOUS PEOPLE
A resident of the 2000 block of Walters Road reported around 1:30 a.m. Nov. 24 that he was in his garage when when people wearing black hoodies came up to the side of his house carrying bags. The resident told police he yelled at the duo and they ran away.

FRAUD
On the morning of Nov. 26, a resident in the 1300 block of Shermer Road reported they had paid fees for legal services to a person purporting to an attorney, but it turned out later that the person was not actually an attorney. No further information about the case was immediately available.

RETAIL THEFT
Staff at the Dick's Sporting Goods at 275 Skokie Blvd. reported around 2 p.m. on Nov. 26 that four male shoplifters had come into the store and stole several winter coats of unspecified value.

BURGLARY
Someone got into a restricted construction area in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road prior to 8 a.m. Nov. 27 and damaged a lockbox containing tools.


ARRESTS

A 23-year-old Skokie man was arrested around 8:30 a.m. Nov. 22 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop over a seat belt violation in the area of Techny and Shermer roads. He was also issued seat belt and no proof of insurance tickets.

Noah Bethard, 23, of the 1400 block of Shermer Road, Northbrook, was arrested around 4 p.m. Nov. 26 in the 1200 block of Cedar Lane after officers learned of an active arrest warrant for him issued in connection with a parole violation.
