Handgun Battery Incident At Gathering; Dog Scam: Blotter
A Northbrook man is accused of aggravated battery following incident at gathering; an Internet dog buying scam: Northbrook Police Blotter.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
AGGRAVATED BATTERY
Theodore Grasso, 31, of the 1400 block of Lee Road, Northbrook, is accused of aggravated battery, and was arrested at 3:37 a.m. Sept. 25 in the 1400 block of Lee Road. The complainant reported they were at a gathering in the rear of a residence in the 1400 block of Lee Road. They said that what began as an argument escalated into a fight between the complainant and the resident of the home. During the fight, the complainant stated that they were struck several times in the head by the resident with a handgun, causing several lacerations. The complainant was treated for their injuries and released from Glenbrook Hospital. Officers were able to collect and inventory the handgun that was used by the resident. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office was contacted and approved one count of felony aggravated battery against the resident. Grasso was processed and transported to court for a bond hearing. Bond was set at $100,000.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL
Jose Alberto Gonzalez Martinez, 25, of the 3300 block of N Ellen, Arlington Heights, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, uninsured vehicle, improper lane usage, disobeying traffic control device, no driver's license, and was arrested at 12:26 a.m. Sept. 27 at Dundee Road and Carlyle Court. His bond was set at $3,000, and he was assigned a court date of Oct. 23/

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED
Aziz Zhaparov, 31, of the 0-100 block of Marble Hill Court, Schaumburg, is accused of driving while license suspended, suspended registration, and was arrested at 3:15 a.m. Sept. 27 in the 2900 block of Dundee Road. His bond was set at $3,000, and he was assigned a court date of Sept. 27.
SPEEDING
Stefan D. Solakov, 26, of the 2500 block of W Lake Avenue, Glenview, is accused of speeding more than 35 miles over the speed limit, and was arrested at 11:53 p.m. Sept. 30 at Dundee Road and Western Avenue. His bond was set at $2,5000, and he was assigned a court date of Nov. 30 in Skokie.
INCIDENTS
TRESPASSING
- A resident in the 1300 block of Rosemary Lane reported at 8:15 a.m. Sept. 25 that they found broken glass on their kitchen floor and several items moved. The stated that nothing appeared to have been taken.
- A resident in the 1300 block of Rosemary Lane called police at 9:13 a.m. Sept. 27 to report that someone came on their property and placed trash in a can without permission.
THEFT
- A Ferndale Avenue resident called police at 11:13 a.m. Sept. 25 to report they purchased a dog on the internet. After paying for the dog, they received a call from an unknown person claiming that the transaction would cost $1,400 more to deliver the dog. The complainant recognized this as a scam and requested a refund from the seller.
- A person at 5 Seasons Family Sport Club, 1300 block of Techny Road, called police at 1:56 p.m. Sept. 25 to report someone had been taking property without permission.
- A resident in the 2400 block of Colony Court reported at 8:50 a.m. Sept. 26 that someone removed a sign from their front yard.
- A resident in the 4300 block of Phyllis Drive called police at 11:42 a.m. Sept. 26 to report someone removed a sign from their front yard.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE
A person shopping at Whole Foods, 800 block of Willow Road, reported on Sept. 24 that someone scratched their parked vehicle.
SUSPICIOUS PERSON
A resident in the 2500 block of Asbury Road reported at 12:04 a.m. Sept. 26 that they were told that an unknown male attempted to open a door on the side of their residence. No signs of entry were found.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
A person called police at 9:55 a.m. Sept. 26 to report someone bent a metal sign during a protest at Walters Drive and Shermer Road.
VANDALISM
A person reported at 5:07 p.m. Sept. 26 someone had placed a campaign sticker on the complainant's sign at Walters Avenue and Shermer Road.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCE
- A person called police at 2:40 p.m. Sept. 27 to report that while changing after a workout, a man opened a curtain, exposing the complainant, at the YMCA, 2700 block of Techny Road.
- An Elm Avenue resident reported at 9:43 a.m. Sept. 29 that they were alerted by their employer that someone had applied for unemployment benefits using their information.
- A person called police at 9:30 p.m. Sept. 29 to report an unknown male, who spoke with an accent, approached them, poked them in the back and started asking personal questions at Whole Foods, 800 block of Willow Road.
CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
A person reported that between Sept. 27-29 someone had stapled two notes on the back of a sign at Shermer Road and Walters Avenue. There was no damage to the sign.
SUSPICIOUS TELEPHONE CALLS
An Acorn Lane resident called police at 9:33 a.m. Sept. 29 to report they had received a "robocall" from an alleged cybersecurity company stating that their social security number and driver’s license number were blocked.
THREATS
An employee at Optics Planet, 3100 block of Commercial Drive, reported at 1:33 p.m. Sept. 30 that they received a threatening telephone message.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee at CVS, 900 block of Willow Road, called police at 1:45 p.m. Oct. 1 to report someone entered the store and was observed placing skin care products in bags, then leaving the store without paying for the items.
