Man With Gun Makes Threats At Cadillac Dealership: Blotter

A Niles man is accused of aggravated assault, two counts of disorderly conduct following incident at dealership: Northbrook Police Blotter.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Akeema S. Anderson, 24, of East Chicago, Indiana, is accused of driving with license suspended, and was arrested at 12:28 p.m. Oct. 3 at Dundee and Waukegan roads. Anderson posted $2,500 bond, and was assigned a court date of Nov. 2.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

Ovidiu G. Astalis, 35, of the 8100 block of W Courte Drive, Niles, is accused of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct (two counts), and was arrested at 5:10 p.m. Oct. 5 at Steve Foley Cadillac, 100 block of Skokie Boulevard. According to the complainant, Astalis was upset because his vehicle had been repossessed and implied that he had a gun. He had threatened to use the gun at the dealership. Officers made contact with Astalis and recovered a handgun. He posted $1,500 bond, and was assigned a court date of Nov. 13 in Skokie.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL

Howard D. Williamson, 37, of the 4300 block of W Lake Avenue, Glenview, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, uninsured vehicle, suspended license, and was arrested at 1:28 a.m. Oct. 7 at Willow and Old Willow roads He was released after posting $3,000 bond, and was assigned a court date of Nov. 30 in Skokie.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL TRESPASS TO AUTO

A resident in the 1700 block of Sunnyside Circle reported at 3:20 a.m. Oct. 2 someone entered their unlocked vehicle. Nothing known was taken.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A Red Coach Lane resident called police at 1:05 p.m. Oct. 2 that they were notified that an unknown subject used their information to apply for unemployment benefits.
  • A Cedar Lane resident reported that between Aug. 30 and Oct. 4 someone made several purchases using the complainant’s credit card without their permission.

NOISE COMPLAINT

A resident in the 1200 block of Sunset Ridge reported at 10:07 a.m. Oct. 3 that music coming from Lifetime Fitness was audible inside their residence.

THEFT

  • A person called police at 1:47 p.m. Oct. 3 to report someone took their wallet while they were shopping at Mariano's, 700 block of Skokie Boulevard.
  • A person reported that between Aug. 4-31, someone had been removing mail from the mailbox at St. Giles Church, 3000 block of Walters Avenue.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee at Lord & Taylor, 1400 block of Lake Cook Road, reported at 7:26 p.m. Oct. 3 that two females were seen running from the store with armfuls of winter jackets with the hangers still inside of them. The employee reported that the two females then entered a waiting vehicle and left the area.

BURGLARY

A person called police to report that during the overnight hours of Oct. 4 someone cut holes in their fencing and broke into three cars in the 1600 block of Techny Road. Various landscaping equipment items were reported missing.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES

An officer, while conducting a premise check at 11:31 a.m. Oct. 4 at Moore Landscaping, 1800 block of Techny Road, observed that a hole had been cut in the fencing. The officer further located several trailers with their doors open and locks cut off lying on the ground. It was discovered that several various pieces of landscaping equipment were taken from the trailers.

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

A resident in the 1800 block of Somerset reported that during the overnight hours of Oct. 5 someone entered their unlocked vehicle and took a garage door opener.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

A person called police to report that between Oct. 2-5 someone drove a vehicle on a baseball field causing damage to the grass at Greenfield Park, 2900 block of Harbor.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

A resident in the 4200 block of Rutgers Lane reported that while reviewing their doorbell camera footage discovered that between 4-4:45 p.m. Oct. 5, a man, described as white, in their 40s, wearing blue jeans and a lanyard around their neck, was looking in their windows.
