Man Receives 12 Charges Including Fleeing To Elude, DUI: Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

Felipe Vazquez Reyna, 27, of the 0-100 block of Echo Court, Vernon Hills, is accused of residential burglary, and was arrested at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 25 in the 2000 block of Center Avenue. A resident reported to police that they were inside their residence and heard someone in the house that was not supposed to be there. Officers searched the residence and located Reyna, who was in possession of various items from the residence. His bond was pending at the time of the report, and he was assigned a court date of Nov. 13 in Skokie.

RECKLESS DRIVING

James Patrick, 23, of the 400 block of Stonebridge Circle, Wheaton, is accused of reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, unsafe backing, and was arrested at 6:58 p.m. Oct. 28 at Sussex Drive and Antelope Springs Road. Officers responded to the area regarding a property damage crash. Officers located Patrick inside a vehicle which matched the description of a vehicle believed to have been involved. He was released on $2,500 bond, and assigned a court date of Nov. 30 in Skokie.

FLEE TO ELUDE

Ernesto Johnathan Morales, 26, of the 2900 block of W Belmont, Chicago, is accused of aggravated fleeing to elude, obstructing ID, aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol, suspended driver's license, disobeying traffic control device, violate median, failure to obey stop sign, disregard stop sign, speeding, transport of alcohol by driver, outstanding warrant, and was arrested at 1:07 a.m. Oct. 29 at Butternut Lane and Techny Road. An officer on a routine patrol observed Morales commit several traffic violations and pulled him over. Bond and a court date were pending at the time of the report.

INCIDENTS

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

  • A person called police at 8:55 p.m. Oct. 22 to report that as they were walking their dog in the 400 block of Skokie Boulevard an unknown person described as being a male driving a black-colored vehicle, wearing a reflective vest, drove by and yelled threatening statements at them.
  • A resident in the 400 block of Versailles reported at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23 that an unknown person rang their doorbell and then attempted to open their locked front door. The person is described as being a female in their 20s, with long-braided hair. The person, after trying the door, left in a black- colored SUV.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES

A Longaker Road resident called police at 1:56 p.m. Oct. 25 to report that they had placed a vehicle for sale on a local website. The resident reported that after giving someone their address, they have now started receiving threatening messages.

RESIDENTIAL RUSE BURGLARY ATTEMPT

  • Officers responded to the area of the 3500 block of Laburnum Court at 6:06 p.m. Oct. 25 regarding a suspicious person report. Upon arrival, the officers learned that a person described as a male wearing a baseball hat and yellow work-style vest, carrying a walkie-talkie radio, approached the residence. The male informed the resident that they needed to inspect the homes water due to a water issue at their neighbor’s home and asked the complainant to come to the backyard. The resident recognized this as a possible scam and refused the subjects attempts. The male then left in a vehicle.
  • A resident in the 2200 block of Wood Drive reported at 6:14 p.m. Oct. 28 that two males arrived at their residence claiming to be there to give a tree trimming estimate. The complainant followed one of the males to the side of the residence. The resident stated that they were instructed to stay on the side of the residence while the male whom they were talking to was talking to another person on a walkie-talkie type of radio. This subject then left and did not return. The complainant reported that U.S. currency was taken from inside the residence.

THEFT

  • A person reported at 10:06 p.m. Oct. 26 that two tarps were taken from their semi-truck trailer without permission in the 600 block of Skokie Boulevard.
  • A person called police at 3:54 a.m. Oct. 26 to report that someone removed a catalytic converter from their unattended vehicle at Alpha Baking, 3200 block of Doolittle Drive.
  • A person reported at 9:33 a.m. Oct. 26 that someone removed a purse from a locked locker at Highland Baking, 2300 block of Shermer Road. The purse contained various personal items.
  • A resident in the 300 block of Southgate called police at 3:31 p.m. Oct. 28 to report that someone damaged signs that were in their front yard and removed a flag from the side of the residence.

FRAUD

  • A person reported at 11:50 a.m. Oct. 26 that they received what they believed was an email from Amazon.com regarding an order, which they did not place. The complainant contacted the listed sender and was told that they received a refund for a purchase and needed to repay the account. The complainant was instructed to purchase $1,200 in gift cards. The complainant purchased Google and Target gift cards the total amount then realized this was a scam.
  • A Washington Drive resident reported at 3:34 a.m. Oct. 29 that they received an email which they believed was from their employer requesting them to purchase gift cards then reply with the information in an email. The complainant recognized this as a scam.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A Farnsworth Lane resident called police at 12:10 p.m. Oct. 27 to report that an unknown person used their information to file a claim with the Illinois Department of Employment Security which they did not file.
  • A Tamarind Drive resident reported at 12:10 p.m. Oct. 27 that they received notification that an unknown person used their information to file a claim with the Illinois Department of Employment Security which they did not file.
  • A Whitfield Road resident called police at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 27 to report that they received notification that an unknown person used their information to file a claim with the Illinois Department of Employment Security, which they did not file.
  • A Blackthorn resident reported at 5:44 p.m. Oct. 27 that they were alerted that an unknown person used their information to file an unemployment claim.

SUSPICIOUS TEXT

A Lexington Court resident called police at 1:20 p.m. Oct. 27 to report they received a call from a person claiming to represent Social Security. The complainant provided some information but then became suspicious and terminated the call.
