Online scam from person claiming to be an Amazon agent; Masked man robs CVS; Saw stolen from construction trailer: Northbrook Police Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
A resident in the 1100 block of Sanders Road reported around 7:12 p.m. May 15 someone had entered their locked car by breaking a window and took a purse.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
A resident in the 2800 block of Aspen Road called police at 4:23 p.m. May 17 to report a man came to their front door claimed to have had a car accident and was asking to use a telephone. Complainant refused to let them in the residence and the subject left the area.

SUSPICIOUS SUSPECT
A resident in the 2000 block of Landwehr Road reported at around noon, May 18 two men knocked on their front door stating that they were there to check the resident’s water lines. The resident stated that the men left when they saw the resident retrieve their cell phone.
WELL-BEING CHECK
Police responded to the area of the 900 block of Holly Court regarding a well-being check. A dispute at a home on Holly Court brought out dozens of law enforcement agencies Tuesday night after an occupant with a gun made threats of violence, police told Patch.
FRAUD
A Picardy Drive resident called police at 9:15 a.m. May 20 to report that they made an online purchase last week, and were checking on the delivery status, when they noticed that the delivery address was incorrect. The resident made contact with a person whom they believed to be an agent from Amazon. The person requested remote access to the resident’s computer and instructed the resident to purchase a Target gift card to verify their address. The resident complied even though they felt that this was suspicious. The resident has found that after communicating with this person that they had several unauthorized charges on one of their accounts.
THEFT
A resident in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 1:07 p.m. May 20 that a saw was taken from a construction trailer without permission.
RETAIL THEFT
A person at CVS, in the 900 block of Willow Road, called police at 10:38 a.m. May 21 to report that a man wearing a mask was observed placing several items into a shopping bag, then leaving the store without paying for the items.
