Pickpockets Strike Shoppers; Driver Found Drunk, Asleep: Blotter
DUI driver found in parking lot behind police station; wallets stolen from shoppers' purses: Northbrook Police Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
THEFTS
- A patron of Lifetime Fitness, 1100 Skokie Blvd., reported around 9:45 p.m. Oct. 31 that someone had stolen his wallet and cell phone from a locker.
- A resident in the 600 block of Academy Drive reported around 4:30 p.m. Nov. 1 someone had stolen a check made out to a business for the purchase of a vehicle.
- Five women or girls came into the Ulta Beauty, 936 Willow Road, filled up bags with boxes of perfumes and fled the store.
- A resident in the 1200 block of Dell Road reported around 6:30 p.m. Nov. 2 that someone had stolen her wallet from a purse during a shopping trip.
- A shopper at Home Goods, 840 Willow Road, reported around 3:45 p.m. someone had stolen a wallet from a purse.
- A patron of the Trader Joe's at 127 Skokie Blvd. reported around 2:30 p.m. Nov. 4 that someone had stolen her wallet while shopping.
- A group of shoplifters of unspecified size stole "numerous coats" from the Bloomingdale's at 145 Skokie Blvd. after cutting attached security cables, police were told around 11:30 a.m. Nov. 6.
- Four women or girls entered the Nordstrom Rack at 199 Skokie Blvd. prior to 8 p.m. Nov. 6, stole multiple purses and scarves from a store display.
CAR BURGLARIES

- A resident in the 100 block of Heather Lane reported around 8 a.m. Nov. 7 that someone had burglarized their unlocked car and stolen a watch left in the glove compartment.
- A resident in the 2000 block of Clover Road reported around 9:45 a.m. Nov. 7 that someone burglarized their unlocked car, stealing a cell phone.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Portsmouth Court resident reported around 6 p.m. Nov. 4 that someone had used their identity to open up a pair of unauthorized credit card accounts.

ARRESTS
Dung Le, 48, of the 2700 block of North Neva Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Nov. 3 and charged with driving under the influence, driving without a license and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more following a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Techny Road. He was also issued a citation for improper parking on the roadway after officers witnessed him sleeping in a vehicle while stopped on the road.
A 20-year-old Fort Wayne, Indiana, woman was arrested around 10:30 p.m. Nov. 3 and charged with driving with a suspended license after police pulled her over in the 2400 block of Willow Road. She was also issued a citation for improper display of a license plate.
Daniel T. Lasek, 27, of the 1200 block of Alderman Avenue, Prospect Heights, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. Nov. 4 and charged with driving under the influence after an officer found him parked behind the police station at 1401 Landwehr Road and determined he was impaired.
A 41-year-old Park City man was arrested around 10:15 a.m. Nov. 5 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 400 block of Skokie Boulevard.
