Statue Of Mary Vandalized Outside Church: Northbrook Police Blotter
The staff at the church reported that the certain parts of the statue had been vandalized with red paint.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. ARRESTS
REVOKED/SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE
Nelson B. Sanchez Martinez, of Waukegan, is accused of having a suspended registration, driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 10:34 p.m. Dec. 20, at Willow and Old Willow roads.

NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE
- Angelira Antunez, of Maywood, is accused of having a suspended registration, no valid driver's license, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 1:06 am. Dec. 21, at Dundee and Sanders roads. A court date of Jan. 27, 2025, was assigned.
- Maria Leon-Elizalde, of Mount Prospect, is accused of improper lane usage, no valid driver's license, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, possession of a fraudlent ID card, and was arrested at 2:41 a.m. Dec. 21, at Willow and Landwehr roads. A court date of Dec. 21 was assigned.
RETAIL THEFT

Tanya Nunez, of Des Plaines, is accused of felony retail theft, resisting arrest, and was arrested at 5:47 p.m. Dec. 22, in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road. The staff said Nunez grabbed a Burberry shirt and scarf from the sales rack. Nunez tore off the tags and hid the items in her bag. When Nunez tried walking out of the store without paying, she was stopped by the staff. Nunez tried to push the staff away and slightly injured one of the workers. The stolen items were valued at $803.00. A court date of Dec. 23 was assigned.

INCIDENTS
STOLEN AUTO
- A resident in the 800 block of Cedar Lane reported at 6:46 p.m. Dec. 20, she had parked her 2022 grey Honda in the driveway and had left the vehicle unlocked and the keys inside. When she returned in the morning, the vehicle was stolen.
- A complainant told police at 12:35 p.m. Dec. 20, that while unloading vehicles from a transport trailer in a commercial parking lot in the 600 block of Skokie Boulevard, a man walked over and jumped into one of them — a 2025 black Range Rover. The man stole the vehicle and fled southbound towards Dundee Road. It appeared the person was being helped by someone driving a black Toyota sedan.
THEFT
A complainant called police at 3:34 p.m. Dec. 20, to report he had ordered a 14-inch MacBook Pro from an electronics store in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road. When he received an email that it was ready for pickup, he responded to the Northbrook store. Yet when he arrived at the store, the staff told him someone already picked up the item. The staff couldn’t explain how someone stole the item while posing as him. The MacBook Pro was valued at $3,243.90.
VANDALISM
The staff of a church in the 2700 block of Willow Road reported at 7:16 p.m. Dec. 20, someone had put a red liquid over specific parts of a statue of Mary that stands just outside the church. The incident occurred overnight prior to the church opening for the day.
RETAIL THEFT
The loss prevention staff of a grocery store in the 800 block of Willow Road reported at 2:32 p.m. Dec. 21, a woman had entered the store and walked directly toward the liquor section. The woman grabbed a $69.79 bottle of Don Julio tequila and walked out of the store without paying.She fled the area in a 2012 black Chevrolet.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
A complainant reported at 9:39 p.m. Dec. 23, someone had damaged their menorah on display at Shermer Road and Walters Avenue. The menorah was found knocked over and some of the pieces were cracked and damaged.
