Mom Released From Hospital After Hit & Run That Killed Son
GoFundMe campaign set up for mother and daughter grievously injured in Burbank hit-and-run that killed 9-year-old boy.

BURBANK, IL -- The mother who was seriously injured last month in a hit-and-run accident that killed her young son has been released from the hospital and is continuing her recovery at home. The 29-year-old mom and her two children were crossing a busy roadway in Burbank last month, when they were hit by a car. Caleb Bell, 9, died of his injuries. The driver fled from the scene and remains at large, police said.
The mother, along with her son and 6-year-old daughter were crossing Cicero Avenue around 9:45 p.m. June 16 at 86th Street, when they were hit by car, police said. The driver of the car did not stop but continued barreling southbound on Cicero Avenue, hitting the curb as the driver turned right onto 87th Street. The escape was captured on surveillance video. Burbank police believe the striking vehicle, described by witnesses as a gray, 4-door sedan, to be a Ford Fusion. Police also think the car is still in the area. The hit-and-run remains an active investigation.
