Heather Mack was to be the beneficiary of her mother's $1.56 million trust fund.
A Cook County judge has granted approval for a petition to be filed that would keep Heather Mack and Tommy Schaefer from inheriting Sheila von Wiese-Mack’s money.
Lawyers for von Wiese-Mack’s brother, William Wiese, received approval to file a petition under the slayer statute to keep Mack and Schaefer from profiting from the murder of von Wiese-Mack, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Mack was to be the beneficiary of her mother’s $1.56 million trust fund, with Wiese assigned as trustee. Mack and Schaefer were each convicted in April of the premeditated murder of von Wiese-Mack, with Mack sentenced to 10 years in prison and Schaefer getting 18 years.
Mack was able to use some of the trust fund money to pay for her defense in the Indonesian court. But requests since her conviction have been mostly denied, the Tribune reported.
