Orland Township to Host Fraud Prevention Presentation
The Sweetheart Scam is a sinister form of fraud that preys on the emotions of vulnerable individuals.

ORLAND PARK, IL — The Sweetheart Scam is a sinister form of fraud that preys on the emotions of vulnerable individuals. It typically involves a fraudster who creates a fake online persona and uses it to develop a relationship with someone, often an older person, who is seeking companionship. The fraudster will then ask for money, often for a medical emergency or other pressing need, and disappear once they have received the funds.
Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart & Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady invite members of the public to attend a senior citizen safety & crime prevention presentation focusing on this issue. The presentation will be held at the Orland Township Activity Center located at 14807 S. Ravinia in Orland Park, on Wednesday, February 7 at 11 a.m. Light refreshments and coffee will be served.
Remember, scammers are skilled at manipulating their victims and can be very convincing, so it's important to stay vigilant and protect yourself from potential fraud. This presentation will be a great way for residents to learn about what to look for to protect themselves from these types of scams.
