• Free Recycling, Document Shredding, Electronic And Drug Take-Back Event Coming To Orland Mall: Village (patch.com) — Orland Park residents can safely recycle electronics, shred documents, and drop off prescription medications for free at Orland Square Mall on Friday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to noon. Hosted by the Village and regional officials, the event limits one TV per household and excludes needles and liquid medicines, so neighbors are urged to arrive early before trucks fill up.
   

• Northwestern Medicine Receives State Approval to Build New Cancer Institute in Orland Park (mcdmag.com) — A major new Northwestern Medicine St. George Cancer Institute is planned for the Orland Park campus, promising expanded oncology and outpatient services for south suburban patients. With state approval secured and a large medical building plus parking garage designed, construction is expected to start in early 2027 and wrap up by spring 2030, significantly boosting local access to cancer care.
