OHS Student Arrested After Making Threat, List Of Names: Police
A Montgomery teen accused of scrawling a written threat of violence and a list of names in a boy's bathroom at Oswego High School.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego police said a student has been arrested in connection with a threat of violence — accompanied by a list of names — left in two boy's bathrooms at Oswego High School late last month. Police said the teen, a 16-year-old Montgomery resident who is a student at OHS, was taken into custody at around 11 a.m. Monday at the high school.
The teen, whose name was not released, is charged with felony disorderly conduct and was released to his parents pending a court date on Tuesday, police said. The threats were found written on the bathroom walls on Sept. 25, according to school officials.
In a message sent to parents a day after the written threats were discovered, Principal Mike Wayne said staff was alerted to messages scrawled in two bathrooms, both including a threat of violence and a date of Oct. 9. One message contained "a list of four first names," Wayne said.

Police said the student behind the messages was identified through an investigation by both the Oswego Police Department and District 308.
"Through information learned during the investigation, it was determined there was no credible threat of danger to the students, staff or the public," police said Monday in a news release. "The Oswego Police would like to thank the school district and the public for their cooperation during this investigation."

Wayne sent another message to parents Monday notifying them of the arrest.
"We are thankful for the cooperation of our students, parents, and staff in providing helpful information to the Oswego Police Department. Working together, we know our school is safer," he said, adding, "As always, when you see or hear something that doesn’t seem right, report it ... "Please discuss with your student the seriousness of making any threat, regardless of intentions, and the consequences that follow."
