Kildeer Woman Dead, Husband Missing After Dive in Lake Michigan
Susan Winn has been identified as the diver who died Friday. Her husband, James Winn, is presumed dead, authorities said.
MILWAUKEE, WIS. — A 53-year-old Kildeer woman is dead and her husband remains missing after the couple went diving with a group in Lake Michigan near Milwaukee Friday, authorities said. Susan Winn was taken to a hospital where she later died after the Coast Guard was called to the dive boat, which was about 17 miles from Milwaukee, for a report of a person who was unresponsive after surfacing, according to media reports. Susan's husband, James Winn, 53, also of Kildeer, remains missing and is presumed dead.
The area where the group was diving was about 300 feet deep, authorities told the Associated Press. The driver of the boat and two other divers were not injured.
The Milwaukee Sheriff's Office called off its search for James Winn on Saturday, and would only resume its search if new information became available regarding Winn's location, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
