3 Hospitalized, Car Catches Fire After 119th Street Crash
Two additional people refused treatment at the scene.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Days after a crash at 119th Street and Route 30 hospitalized five people, another crash at the same intersection sent a mother and two teenage daughters to area hospitals and resulted in an engine compartment fire in their vehicle. Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said the two-car crash happened at around 6:36 p.m. Thursday.
Stratton said the mother and two teenage girls were able to exit the vehicle by the time firefighters arrived, Stratton said. The mother and one teen were taken to Rush-Copley Hospital in Aurora, and the other teen was transported to Edward Hospital in Naperville. Stratton said none of their injuries appeared life-threatening.
Two female teenagers, ages 17 and 19, in the other vehicle both refused treatment at the scene, he said.

Firefighters were able to put out the engine compartment fire, and the road was reopened about 40 minutes after the crash, Stratton said.
Details on the how the crash unfolded were not immediately available Thursday night, and Illinois State Police were investigating.

On Dec. 14, yet another crash at the same intersection injured four people. In another incident, a woman's van was struck by a train at nearby 127th Street after she accidentally drove onto the tracks.
