• Plainfield extends its moratorium on data centers (shawlocal.com) — Plainfield officials have extended their pause on new data center proposals for another 180 days while they finish detailed rules for where and how such facilities could be built. Village leaders say they want to avoid rushed decisions seen in Joliet and Yorkville and ensure any future projects fit Plainfield's long-term land use, infrastructure, and power needs.
   

• Illinois State Police Investigation Into Misuse of Flock System Leads to Felony Charges for Former Joliet Police Lieutenant (thepaper1901.com) — A Plainfield resident and former Joliet police lieutenant, Jeremy Harrison, has been charged with felony computer tampering and official misconduct after an Illinois State Police investigation into alleged misuse of Joliet's Flock license-plate reader system. The case began with a 2025 request from Joliet's inspector general, and prosecutors recently presented the findings to a Will County grand jury.
   

• Lexi Bukala's big plays lead Minooka flag football past Yorkville in regional semifinal (shawlocal.com) — Plainfield Central's flag football season ended in a 26–14 regional semifinal loss to Normal Community, despite a pick-six by Shania Davison. In the same Joliet Central Regional, Minooka advanced to the championship behind a huge passing connection between quarterback Alexia Ramirez and receiver Lexi Bukala, who combined for multiple touchdowns against Yorkville.
